Hi, I’m Dr. Gabriela “Gaby” Alvarado Pasko. I’m a Venezuelan flutist, educator, and arts professional based in the Boston area.
Music has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. It has taken me into classrooms, concert halls, community spaces, and rehearsal rooms with students and musicians at many stages of their lives. Along the way, I learned that the best music lessons are not just about playing the right notes. They are also about confidence, curiosity, problem-solving, and learning how to listen to yourself.
I hold a Doctor of Musical Arts in flute performance and have taught private lessons, college students, chamber music, and studio classes. My background includes modern flute, baroque flute, piccolo, music theory, performance preparation, and arts accessibility. I have also worked as a speaker, facilitator, grant panelist, and consultant in the performing arts.
In my lessons, I like to meet students where they are. Some students come in excited to start their first instrument. Some want help preparing for auditions, performances, or school ensembles. Some are adults returning to music after years away. I build lessons around each student’s goals while giving them a strong foundation in tone, rhythm, technique, note reading, phrasing, and musical expression.
My teaching also pays close attention to the whole musician. For flute students, that may mean working on breath, posture, balance, vibrato, stage presence, or practice routines. My background in Body Mapping, Pilates, and Yoga helps me support healthy playing habits. My advocacy for disabled musicians and accessible music-making also shapes how I teach. I want students to learn in a way that respects their bodies, learning styles, pace, and goals.
I believe music lessons can be both structured and encouraging. Whether a student is preparing for an audition, learning their first instrument, or reconnecting with music as an adult, I aim to create a lesson space where they can grow with support and care.
